And the good news...
Lots of people bitching about how bad everything is today, with murders of unarmed people in the streets, attacks on cops, terror threats, political corruption, and the like.
But I remember the presidential campaign of 1968. A year that took Martin Luther King, Jr, Bobby Kennedy, and saw Nixon nominated by the GOP. (For those who may have forgotten, he won.)
Riots in the streets, dozens killed on both sides, gay bar raids, women being beaten in the workplace, and all 'round chaos, here and abroad.
And Viet Nam was still in full swing.
Sure, we have our challenges here in 2016. But we've had challenges, worse challenges, in our colorful past. From revolutionary wars to slave emancipation to atomic bombs to McCarthyism, to Watergate and Monica Lewinsky, America has never been free from internal or external conflict. We've been at war of some kind--hot or cold--for more than 220 of our 240 years as a nation.

So when someone says it's never been 'this' bad, laugh on the inside. You know you're living in fabulous times.
