Adversity can be of great value...if you choose to see it that way!

“There are two great days in a person’s life: the day
we are born and the day we discover why.”
William Barclay
(Scottish theologian and author 1907-78)

Trying to find the gift in the adversity can be like looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack. Seeing the adversity AS the Gift takes away the guesswork. Remember that we are as blind in all light as in all darkness. Contrast is what makes this journey called Life worth traveling, worth enjoying, worth living! Scary…but necessary.

What the Gift of Adversity produces when you accept it consciously:

  • Intensified Courage, which leads to your ability to increase risk, which in turn leads to increased opportunity
  • Refined Patience, which gives you the power to become more centered, to consider the next step
  • Resilience and Resolve, which allows you to take the next step without giving in to any residual fear
Whenever you see adversity as an enemy, or a punishment, or a curse, the true value of that adversity is missed, covered over, blotted out. Developing the chosen habit of seeing all adversity as gifts will allow you to move through life with more ease, more energy, and more gratitude.

Life is full of lessons and the lessons will be repeated until learned.

“You learn nothing from your successes except to think too much of yourself. It is from failure [and adversity] that all growth comes, provided you can recognize it, admit it, learn from it, rise above it, and then [start] again.”Dee Hock, founder, Visa International
