"Egotist: a person more interested in himself than in me." Ambrose Bierce
It amuses me how so many people are so very willing to ascribe egotism to others while being oblivious or denying their own egotism, quite visible in their surmising of the other.
Simple English: No one is less egotistical than anyone else. It just shows up differently in each of us, allowing others to judge us for it.
So, I say, so what? Ego* seems to be essential. As much as food, water, and air. It helps you grow, work, reach, succeed, fail, try again. It's your strength, your friend, your power. So...
Relax, enjoy the ride.
You'll never escape your own ego, even if you go sit on the mountain top.
Which, by the way, is a very egotistical and self centered thing to do.
"The ordinary day, the ordinary experience, the ordinary life. That is the true temple, the true cathedral, the true ashram. The miraculous is to be found in the ordinary." Guru Da
*Freud coined the term 'ego.' Much of what he says has been refuted or even abandoned. It's ok to say no to Freud.
