Conscious Success in Seven Simple Steps...If You're Up for It

By Richard Kent Matthews - Coach | Author | Speaker

Follow your own road without apologies!

Success happens first in your mind, your heart, and your decisions. Only then, in your world!

Writer Christopher Morley (1890-1957) wrote that the only real success is to live your life in your own way. So, no matter what I say, or anyone says, in books, Sunday sermons, articles, or screaming parents, if you're not living according to your own rules, that is, without hurting anyone else, success may seem elusive. Others can often talk you out of what you want to do.

Don't let them do that!

Here's the secret. Follow these seven steps and you're on the road to your definition of success. The steps are not rules; just guidelines and ultimately, guide posts. Have fun.

Intention: First, know what the heck you want. This can be one of the most difficult places to be. You've so many choices. And voices in your head and ear. Listen to your gut instinct. If it's wrong, you'll know soon enough. And, if necessary, a trusted advisor who has your best interests at heart, not their own.

Invention: Make it up. All directions, all possibilities, are available to you. You're limited only by your own choices.

Direction: Scan the horizon, look at the inner maps, even ask for help. But head out. Like it or not, our earthly journey is shorter than you may think.

Connection: It may sound contradictory to what I said above, but none of us succeeds alone. When you need help, ask. And develop your powers of discernment. Important!

Expectation: Hold a good picture in your mind about the outcome you desire,  but more important, hold a picture, or pictures, of the process. See the steps you need to take. The 'Final Outcome' is blurry anyway, so focus more on the process. Even with the best of our visualizations, we are often surprised.

Reflection: Every day, review your progress. Even if you fail occasionally, it's still progress. Failure is part of it. Work it into your equations. It's often gold. We learn more from our mistakes than our successes.

Appreciation: From the very beginning, adopt the gratitude attitude. It's more than just a thank you; it's a necessary discipline. Each day, practice by consciously expressing gratitude for everything in your life. Start in the morning with your bed, your sheets, your clock radio or cell phone wake up. Your bathroom, your kitchen, the fact you have a roof over your head. Wherever you are, thank it for holding you up. Even if you're on the streets. Gratitude is the beginning of the way home.

The more conscious you are, the more aware you are, the more likely you are to reach whatever goal or achievement you create.

Simple. Not always easy. But not that difficult, either.

Success! The Simplest Three Keys You'll Ever Need

By Richard Kent Matthews - Coach | Author | Speaker

You can burst forth when you know the 'secrets'!!
You can have what you want if you are determined enough! You are, right?

"There is no chance, no destiny, no fate that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul."
Ella Wheeler Wilcox (1850-1890)

Do you really want to succeed...at anything? Here are the three keys. Apply them and you won't know what hit you...successfully speaking, that is!
  1.  Clarity: Know what you want, know your direction, write it all down.
  2. Charity: Be willing to give back. No one succeeds alone. Write down what you'll share in return for your success.
  3. Gratitude: It's not just a simple 'thank you' but a discipline. Open your mind to being grateful for everything. Even the drawbacks. It's not an easy discipline, to be sure. But with practice, not only will you nail it, you'll see changes for the good that you can't even imagine at this moment.
There you go. Nutshell advice. Follow it and you're guaranteed to win. Don't follow it and, well, I did my best!

Blessings and don't forget to subscribe to this blog!

Abundance Now! How the Law of Attraction Really Works in Three Very Simple Steps

By Richard Kent Matthews - Coach | Author | Speaker

How to find your Pot of Gold!

What do you want?

Today, three simple questions for you. Get clear on these and most anything is possible.
  1. If money didn't matter, how would you spend your time? Be as honest and detailed as possible.
  2. When you think you want abundance in any form, ask yourself why. Again, dig deep. Find the reasons. Don't judge them. Just find them. Observe your responses.
  3. What are you willing to give in return for your abundance? That can take many forms from work to art to giving money itself. It's important that you know what it is.
Often when we say we want more abundance or prosperity in our lives, we're not really thinking it through.

My suggestion is to make sure you KNOW what you really want. Discover why you want it. And be willing to give back.

It really can't get much simpler than that. Difficult, maybe, because most of us tend to avoid getting clear on our desires. We'd rather whine than get specific.

Don't whine. Get clear. Be willing to share. And watch what happens.

Now you know how the Law of Attraction really works. What are you going to do about it?

Blessings and much joy to you.

Gratitude

The only prayer you ever need: Thank you!
"Gratitude is way more than a feeling. It's an aware choice, an action taken both before and after full understanding of gratitude's power and redemptive qualities."

Conscious Kindness: How to Feel Happier in THIS Moment

By Richard Kent Matthews - Coach | Author | Speaker

The kinder you are, the more you shine!

Did you know being kind can be the key to new joy?

Kindness means a whole lot more than just being the ‘nice guy.’ It can help your heart and prolong your life!

You may have read a lot of material, seen a lot of videos, or daytime talk show guests espouse and tout the glories of kindness, or compassion. In some cases, they make it sound almost like thick syrup. Sweetsy, cuddly, almost ‘girly.’ After all, macho isn't kind, right? Wrong.

It’s none of that.

Perfect Life: The Road to Boredom

By Richard Kent Matthews - Coach | Author | Speaker

Life is like a stained glass window. Beautiful until you look up close!

Every now and then, I like to repost this little quotation from John-Roger.

What If?
(From Life 101 by John-Roger)

What if life were perfect?

'What if you lived in a perfect world of perfect people and perfect possessions, with everyone and everything doing the perfect thing at the perfect time? What if you had everything you wanted, and only what you wanted, exactly as you wanted, precisely when you wanted it? What if, after a perfect length of time, you decided, “Perfection is a perfect bore!”

How to Unclench: Three Steps to Ahhhhh!

By Richard Kent Matthews - Coach | Author | Speaker

Let your best colors shine through.

What you really want is to relax. Here's how!

“We carry within us the wonders we seek [outside] us.” Sir Thomas Browne

You’re seeking something. You’re not sure what it might be, but you know something is missing. Perhaps it’s a relationship? Or a new career? Or a different kind of spiritual walk? Maybe a new car, a new home, or a new city. Yeah, that’s it. If you just move to another city, start over, and get clear, all your challenges will be over, problems solved.

No.

How Fear Can Be Your Best Asset

By Richard Kent Matthews - Coach | Author | Speaker

You're always still under construction. Don't give up so close to the goal!

"There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: Fear of failure." Paulo Coelho

So, you're afraid you won't succeed at your most important goals, eh? Well, you might not--yet. But so what? Failure is often part,  even a major part, of success. Persistence, though, can turn failure into fabulous!

How we allow fear to work against us:
  • Procrastination--it's easier to just sit there.
  • Pretending it doesn't matter--after all, so what, eh?
  • Listening to the naysayers--they might be right!
  • Giving up--it couldn't possibly work.
  • Lying about it--it's not something anyone wants.
  • Sour grapes--oh, well, didn't really want to do it, anyway!
How we can make it work in our favor:
  • Start with small steps--that's not so scary.
  • Remember it's only a thought--the mind plays tricks, caution.
  • Move a little more each day--head in the direction of success.
  • Hang around uplifting people--they'll be supportive.
  • Get up!--hardest part, getting started. Do it now, something small.
  • Practice gratitude daily--by remembering the good in your life right now. Write it down. Journal.
Fear is a powerful emotion and serves valuable purposes. It can also be a major block to success on every level. Recognizing it for what it is, is the first real step to moving beyond it, using it, thanking it for doing its job.

Failure? So what? Most of the greatest successes have failed many times before reaching their goals. You're in good company.

Start small, move a little, be grateful.

Tee Hee! Why Laugher Can Help You Heal--Physically, Emotionally, Spiritually

Richard Kent Matthews - Spiritual Life Coach | Author | Speaker

Laugher lifts the spirits. Just ask Luna, my poodle-tese!

Why you might want to laugh more

"A merry heart doeth good like medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bone." Prov. 17:22

How often do you laugh? Really laugh? Deep belly laughing? In case you haven't already heard, laughter can be quite healing. Here are just a few of the benefits:
  • Non-fattening! You can enjoy it often and not gain a pound. In fact, it may stimulate your metabolism to actually help you lose a few.
  • Increases blood circulation and stimulates faster oxygen delivery.
  • Aids digestion and elimination. Laugh enough and you won't be so 'full of it'!
  • Amplifies respiration; helps body ventilation.
  • Activates and exercises internal organs and muscles. (100 laughs = 10 minutes on a rowing machine! I can't prove it, but it's worth the effort.)
  • Releases endorphins, a natural painkiller and pleasure enhancer.
  • Boosts components of the immune system.
Here's one you'll really like: Laughter connects both hemispheres of the brain and along with orgasm, creates total brain symmetry! Can't ask for better than that, eh?

It's cathartic; and can vanquish emotional and physical tension; releases hostility; helps curb heart trouble; makes you feel good. For you more spiritual types, it helps you to relax and your level of relaxation reflects your level of trust--in God, in Spirit, in the universe, in others, in yourself.

And when you are laughing with--not at--people, they feel less threatened around you, and trust you more.

Finally, happiness is not something that can be sought, that can be found. Happiness is the result of all the choices, actions, and thoughts that spin through your life moment by moment. The more you laugh, the more that little bluebird of happiness lands on your shoulder.

You have been designed for happiness. You have also been given the choice. Find reasons to laugh every day. Opportunities are everywhere. And you'll be the better for it.

Your Call to Action: Power Living in Seven Steps

By Richard Kent Matthews - Coach | Author | Speaker

Are you ready to 'flower'?
Successful living isn't really all that difficult. It's a matter of mind set.

The Seven Steps
  1. Dominion (self-reliance): Begin by letting go of the Victim Consciousness. “No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.” Eleanor Roosevelt
  2. Divinity: Recognize your wholeness and connectedness to All That Is. “You don’t belong to you. You belong to the universe. The significance of you will remain forever obscure to you, but you [can believe] you are justifying your significance if you apply yourself to converting all your experience to highest advantages for others.” Buckminster Fuller
  3. Duty: Everything you do, say, think produces consequences. Choose wisely. ”A man cannot speak but he judges himself—with his will, or against his will, he draws his portrait to the eye of others by every word. Every opinion reacts of him who utters it…Everything you say [think, and do] reveals you.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
  4. Discovery: Observe the world around you—now. This is where it’s happening. “Almost the entire world is asleep. The few who are awake live a state of constant amazement.” (Attrib. to several)
  5. Direction: Create your calling. Don’t wait for it to find you. “Up. Sluggard, and waste not life; in the grave will be sleeping enough.” Benjamin Franklin
  6. Deep Bonding (Depth): Transform your relationships, especially with yourself. “Happy relationships depend not on finding the right person, but by being the right person.” Eric Butterworth
  7. Destiny: Aspire to greatness. “What is the use of living if not to strive for noble causes and to make this muddled world a better place for those who will live in it after we are gone?” Winston Churchill

Finally, in all things be grateful. Gratitude itself is the real key to successful living.

Cosmos: The Deliberate Evolution

By Richard Kent Matthews - Coach | Author | Speaker

Shedding light in a darkened corner...

Creation? Evolution? Or a bit of both...

"All great truth begins as blasphemy." George Bernard Shaw

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth... "

I've been watching with interest a number of local cable access programs dealing with the subject of creationism vs. evolution. Both sides seem adamant: we are right. Can both sides be right?

First, the theory of evolution as laid down by Charles Darwin has many holes and even the evolutionists are aware of it. Things like long strands and repetitions of amino acids, and DNA stuff that boggles the mind. Even temperatures in places that should still be cold, and cold spots that should have warmed up four billion years ago. That sort of thing. And eyes can't come into existence fully formed according to the Darwinian perspective; everything has to evolve gradually, slowly, in small increments.

But an eye, only in part, serves no purpose.

The eye must come already intact. It cannot do that according to the theory of evolution. Same with other organs and materials in bodies, plants, and even water.

It's not only complicated, but also weird. Both sides push positions that bear more critical investigation.

Words of Mouth: What Are You Affirming?

By Richard Kent Matthews - Coach | Author | Speaker

Gold is more than just shiny metal, you know!

Are the usual 'prosperity affirmations' just so much fluff?

Books by the hundreds, maybe thousands, tell you how to get what you want, manifest this and that, create overflowing abundance, grab the gold, strike it rich, healing your body, mind, and spirit. Some are pretty good, too.

I've read nearly all of them over the past 35 years or so. Have they helped? You damn right they have. But not in the way you might expect.

After all the reading, researching, practicing, meditating, levitating, migrating, and aggravating, I came to the realization that I was making it way too difficult. So, I dumbed it all down for myself and that's when some good change, some not-so-scary or overwhelming change began to slowly ooze into my experience. I share with you here how I made it all happen.

Healthy TIPS for Manifestation

‘Everything we do is driven by the desire to feel a certain way.’ Danielle Laporte, The Desire Map

So, first thing, how do you want to feel?

‘Affirmations are like screaming that you’re okay in order to overcome this whisper that you’re not. That’s a big contrast to actually uncovering the whisper, realizing that it’s a passing memory, and moving closer to all those fears and all those edgy feelings that maybe you’re not okay. Well, no big deal. None of us is okay and all of us are fine. It’s not just one way. We are walking, talking paradoxes.’ Pema Chödron, Start Where You Are

Second thing, accept you may not yet really know how you want to feel exactly, and honor how you're actually feeling, right now, in this moment. Then...
